So this is something I've been meaning to do for a long time. I often spend hours on my covers, making sure that my hair/make-up/pitch/sound etc. are all as good as they can be. But honestly, it can get really tiring keeping up with aesthetics. Today, I decided to sit down in my chair without setting the scene, brushing my hair or putting on makeup. I then performed a one-take cover of this beautiful song because frankly, who cares? The truth of the matter is, if I did 1000 takes of this song, yes, I could edit it all together and make every note perfect (or alternatively, use Melodyne, which also eats away at your time). The pressure these days to create stunning, flawless videos is high and it leaves people who are not in the position to afford editors, new clothes, the best microphones etc. out of the narrative. And these people will have to work that much harder to be seen. Ultimately, there are many more important things to worry about right now than whether or not I liked the facial expression I made when I sang a certain word. I hope you guys take the time every day to perform at least one act of kindness, whether it's for yourself or the rest of the world. And I hope we can normalize making content because we want to, instead of putting pressure on ourselves to look a certain way or perform to our fullest abilities each time. I know this is something challenging for me, but I plan to do it more and I truly wish to live in a world one day where everyone feels motivated to post regardless of the imperfections they see.
